D&D General What do you think?

I'm a DM, not a player, so I am not sure how I would feel in your shoes. However, everyone makes mistakes and it seems to me the DM made some here. The question is what they do after the realize this (if they have realize it). I will echo some advice given above: dig you enjoy the game prior to this battle? Is so, I would talk to the DM to express your feelings on the death and then give it another chance. If you didn't like the resurrection, perhaps suggest an alternate option.

...I have been playing 2024 lmop with a party of 6 members for about 3 months now, using discord. This was a very homebrew edition of the module, with a "very competitive" DM who would throw big enemy numbers and sometimes overleveled npcs at us. I was playing a wizard, the rest of the party was mostly composed of melee characters and we had no cleric, so, to compensate, I took magic initiate (cleric) to be able to cast healing word and spare the dying.

Due to backstory reasons (my pc was a wiz who was kind of bad at magic) DM offered to apply a homebrew mechanic called "dangerous magic" which added a chance to harm myself whenever I cast a spell. It felt bland, but I took it since it made sense for backstory reasons and I demanded no buffs in change.

My character often ended up wasting his slots casting healing word, acting as a cleric, or stabilizing incapacitated teammates...

Don't have much to add regarding the particulars of this DM or your reaction over it, but as soon as I read, "...to compensate, I took magic initiate (Cleric) to be able to cast healing word and spare the dying..." my immediate thought was, I sure hope the rest of this party hoarded and paid for a lot of consumables!

No dedicated healer, you're being asked to do a heavy lift!

It's unfortunate the experience panned out this way; I understand the sentiment you felt. :3
