What do you want for D20 Modern?

I was doing some thinking on what I would like to see in the way of D20 Modern Source/Adventure books. I have a couple below. What do you think or better yet, what do YOU want?

Include little juicy bits...like Player Handouts...yes or no?

Source books:

- Modern Points of Conflict: Afghanistan
- Modern Points of Conflict: Russia, The Black Market and Mob
- Modern Points of Conflict: End of the World Cults

Each one would have a history of the topic, great real world resources (not mechanics but flavor and general info), support mechanics, and a variety of player handouts that were generic enough for anyone's adventure that made use of the information.

Some of these might be a bit too specific (though there would certainly be those that would enjoy them!):

- Modern Ammunition Guide
- Modern Grenades of the World
- Modern Civilian Vehicles of the World
- Modern Military Vehicles of the World

Thoughts?

Cheers!

I'd like to see some less fantasy oriented stuff. The Ultra Modern Firearms book by Green Ronin is fantastic. It's be great to get something like that for vehicles.

Personally, if I wanted to play those kind of games, I'd use GURPS. But that's just me. As far as sourcebooks, I'd love to see more Shadowhunters and Agents of PSI stuff.

I'll second Crothian's suggestion for more non-fantasy real world type stuff. (as if I want to play with magic & psi, I'll be playing D&D)

As he said the Ultramodern Firearms is great (reading it between posts as I type).

More source books & adventures that are real world based would be nice.

Also a collection of modern building (grided) blue prints would be cool. Covering everything from retail stores to banks & factorys.

If I want 'real world' stuff I'll watch the news...

Doing a D20 version of the ME vehicle guide would be pretty sweet though.

I'd like to see them do a big book on the setting from (the latest?) Polyhedron... near future, technothriller with gene-mods and such.

Well, Holistic Design jumpstarted this with an Afghanistan: d20 supplement earlier this year (part of their Real-Life Roleplaying product line). They will follow up with Somalia: d20 supplement later this year.

The rules are good enough to be converted to d20 Modern. Althought it's affordable (carry a $20 US price tag), the information while useful is not fully detailed.

Would love a Gulf War or Vietnam War campaign supplement.

The first two are too specific IMHO. The latter two are okay, provided they cover all types of vehicle (ground, sea, and air), even man-powered, with new rules for them, including a chase rule.

Unrelated to the above, would love many different FX supplements, perhaps superpower, genetic engineering, cybernetic (still a fan of Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman), etc.

I definitely want a vehicle guide. Obviously though, the way the stats are set up, there won't be much variation among most of the vehicles, but oh well. This book should have plenty of real world vehicles in it, plus a guide on customizing your vehicle with new parts, weapons, armor and whatnot. Templates and grids to make car chases easier to visualize would be nice too.

Archaic Firearms Guide. I want a book detailing vintage firearms, artillery and explosives. Dragoon revolvers, cannons, muskets, the original gatling gun, repeating rifles that tamed the west, WW era weapons... This would make RPing anything from Civil War games to WWII a lot easier.

A book full of modern style buildings, houses, shopping malls, prisons, cities and such would be great.

Future-tech...

I'd love a little help on how to run an Agents of PSI game. I'm not too familiar with goverment agencies and how they work. I guess I could read some books.

As far as info on real world geo-political stuff, GO TO THE LIBRARY PEOPLE! I don't need to buy a special d20 supplement to tell me about Afghanistan. It's all over the news and I'm sure you can find tons of info about it in any library or news website.

For example, I'm running my Agents of PSI game in Detroit, MI. I don't need a supplement for that. I found a great book at Barnes & Noble for less than $10.00 that tells me more than I need to know about the city. Pair that up with a good old street map and/or the Internet, and I've got more campaign material than I'll ever need.

But ya, a vehicles guide would be nice to get the actual game stats of such things. I also like the idea of the archaic firearms and running campaings in the almost-modern world.

A vehicle guide is a good idea.

Other than that, I'd rather see stuff that's more action movie based than military silmulation.

A book on end of the world cults would be cool as long as it was done with an eye towards fun villains for games rather than just being a factual cap of realworld events with game stats added in.

wish list Modern

What I want is a source book with no magic, maybe CIA style. Or an inner city GTA style.

I also want GOOD mods with little to no magic and monsters.

Is that to much to ask?:p
