What do you want to see in D20 Dragonlance?

Skull! That's the other one! Thanks. :)

Good point on the progression of the Solamnic nights, tho. Hmm...

I don't think 3-level PrCs would work. Perhaps a single PrC -- Knight of Solamnia, with rank (Sword, Crown, Rose) being an entirely nebulous and political thing.

*nod* Point taken. As I recall in 2e, each Order actually focused on different things....and worked almost like prestige classes. The Sword knights getting clerical spells and the Rose knights gaining things like fear immunity.

However, I suppose that could easily be made up for by what you have when multiclassing into the Knights in the first place, and how far in you decide to progress.

Or alternatively, make paladin spells part of the prestige class during times when clerical magic exists on Krynn, or fighter feats during the eras without clerical magic.

Nah... Art's not as important as content, IMO. I'd rather have quality writing and web-comic-sketchy line art than great art covering up a stinking pile of festering poo.

Not that I think DL is going to be that. :)

And what do you think of level limits ? In 2E (and 1E IIRC) characters couldn't get higher level than 18th. Should they set it back to 20th ? (I think yes personally)

As far as I could tell, the 18th level limit only existed in the Dragonlance Adventures hardcover. All the classes listed in the Tales of the Lance set had level progressions up to 25th, and a number of NPC's (Fistandantilus, Ariakas, etc.) were well above 18th level. So why not just ditch the level restriction entirely? It was dumb to begin with, and doesn't really make any sense.

Art is not as important as content but I bet they get Larry Elmore to do the artwork as it should be.

I want to see the characters stats of course and I want it to be set in varible ages with the D&D magic rules.Sovereign stone magic is okay but confusing to me I prefer D&D magic which is the main resean I like D20 so much.I don't have to skip from system to system so much.

I can't wait til summer 2003 now oh well!

Originally posted by Volaran Knights of Solamnia were ment to progress through the orders, so perhaps Crown, Sword and Rose and 3 level prestige classes ment to be taken one after another.

I remember someone (I think it was Monte Cook) said that a D&D 3rd character comes into his own at around 5th level. So how about this for the three Solamnic orders?

Make 3 separate, 5 level classes with scaling requirements. For example, Crown could require a BAB of +5, Sword +10, and Rose +15. So theoretically, a grand master could be a Fighter 5/Crown Knight 5/Sword Knight 5/Rose Knight 5.

Yes, that would probably work though. However, the point was well made earlier that distinction between the orders is more political, and that KoS have been portrayed in many different ways over the years. Forcing them into three seperate prestige classes seems a bit much not that I look at it.

i hope they change what needs to be changed for the d20 system to become the dragonlance rpg. altering/creating classes, changing mechanics somewhat, whatever they see as nessisary to accuratley portray dragonlance. It would be a huge mistake to change dragonlance to fit 3e, the setting is the game not the other way around. as an example in the 4th age, there were no bards, period, they would have been hunted down by the tower mages. in fifth age, they fit fine from what i have read. what i think WotC has missed about dragonlance fans is that we will buy anything that has anything to do with DL because it has been so long since we got any quality product, 5th age roleplaying materials sucked, it was still possible to have fun but that was in spite of the poor game mechanics.

none of us really know what the vision of dragonlance is to the creators, we only know our own personal take on it. so far, i would say that other then certian decisions made in the wake of summer flame by tsr, the setting has been well done and i trust the current caretakers to continue the good work.

do what you think must be done, we will buy it. probably after some review, we will love it. we are hardcore.

Personally, I don't like level limits. I like that option left open, even if most of us gamers don't reach that high. If possible, I'd like to use DL with the upcoming Epic-Level Handbook.
