What do you want to see in the fourth Adventure Path?

AP4 - Terrasque

I'd love to see the Terrasque feature prominently in one of the next adventure paths. Maybe have the PCs have to force feed it the Wand of Orcus in the final chapter.

I really like some of the ideas people have posted here, especially the horror theme and themes aligned with particular creatures (dragons, fey, etc.)

I even really like the idea of a "By Ari Marmell" tagline. I really liked his work in Heroes of Horror (but don't tell my GF/DM that I've been reading her books).

For my part, I would really love to see an update of Night Below to bring it more into the 3.5 rule set (and I've already been playing with the conversions others have posted here on the boards) and feel it could meet a lot of the requests others have posted while still being able to meet requests for keeping it shorter since it always seemed to have a more modular feel to me than some of the AP material I've read thus far.

It's interesting to see this thread - you guys are discussing campaign design by means of the proxy provided by the AP topic. Campaign design as an isolated theme in itself rarely gets discussed.

As for me, I'd be interested to see something other than a forced 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 etc. adventure path structure.

An adventure path with forks in the path, where 1 could take the PCs to either 2, 3, or 4 (although each adventure must eventually be pursued, regardless of PC level) thanks to multiple hooks and heavy use of built in "scaling the adventure" stuff to accomodate a greater range of levels, would be a genuine advance in the AP "state of the art" IMO.

Well, can I get some jelly with my peanut butter?

How about an adventure path with an "ending" at 12th level, and a "overtime mode" that goes up to 20th? That satisfies everyone... other than those people who don't want space in Dungeon wasted on high level adventures. But admit it, Dungeon has to publish some high level adventures anyways... so they might as well be AP.
You stole my idea! :p.

Seriously, I think that's a good idea. I personally want to have the option of a 12- or 20- level AP, with the level 12 endgame to feel like one, the consequences of which could lead you to a level 20 endgame if you so choose.

Psionics. As the focus and BBEG.

It'd work really well in the urban, non-outsider, conspiracy thing. Heck, I realize that there are market pressures. I'd be satisfied with Web Enhancement conversion notes.

ALthough I like having adventure paths that go all the way to 20th level, I'd prefer the next one to go only levels 1 through 12, or maybe 1 through 14 or so. I think it would make the path more compact. Stretching it out over 20 levels puts too much pressure on the plot. It also increases the chance that the campaign will fall apart before it can be completed. Plus, I find it much more fun to DM for levels 1-12 than for higher levels, because D&D at higher levels has too much math and too many things to track during combat.

As for the central challenge or supreme foe, I'd really like to see it be mindflayers and their allies (maybe duergar, derro or aboleth) for the next path.

I want me some Dark Sun. Levels 1 to 30. Morally ambiguous free roaming adventure. Encounters that can take place anywhere but still advance the plot. Lots of red herrings. Final encounter with the BBEG results in a pit fight for all to watch.

something like war of the lance of the dragonlance cronicles will be best for a group like mine.

A adveture series in where the players would be having to start small, sneak around and someway must get the upper hand against tyranical lords who trying to take over like the world war 2 french resistance verses nazis. :)

You know, something else I'd like to see...

An AP where there's often lots of downtime--possibly months, in many cases--between some of the adventures.

While I've long since accepted it as an aspect of D&D, it occasionally seems weird to me that a 21-year-old newbie can become an archmage greater than those who have studied for 80 years, by adventuring for a year or so. ;)

Plus, this might actually encourage people to take Item Creation feats.
