what does a CLW potion taste like in your world?

All magic is arcane. CLWs are made from troll's blood and herbs. THey taste like blood, but more bitter.

Gross.

Depends on where you get them from. For instance, all cure potions made by Armisaelite clergy are clear, and faintly salty, almost like tears (which they are). Sirbati clergy provide potions the consistency of cordial syrup, with cure potions being a red colour, increasing in vividity with power. The taste is not dissimilar to blood.

White with a bluish tinge (gets darker with higher levels), consistency of Pepto, tastes like blueberries and cream.

Tried the 'each potion has standard X properties' but my players started getting cocky (If it smells bad, it a cure potion). Got annoying when they knew what the potion was w/o identifying it...

So I instigated the 'differing formulas' rules. sice each creator has a different formula for their potions, no two are exactly alike.

Now their using otions of similar properties to track down potion makers... :uhoh:

Same here... Depends on who makes them. Everything from clear and tastless, to milky white and coconutty, to sparkling pink and mangoey, to sludgy black and horribly bitter. In fact, the character avoided downing that last potion based on its looks alone.

Oh, yeah... I once had a bunch of giants with CLW potions in vials the size of beer bottles. Still had to drink the whole bottle to get the full effect. That was fun.
