What Does Putting Someone On Your Buddy List Do?

If it's like other vBulletin forums, it allows you track buddies when they're online (a "currently online" indicator will appear next to their name in your Buddy List) and (if you have PM access) to send bulk PMs to multiple parties at once.

It certainly makes good use of the oft-forgotten Microsoft Leeching software and transfusion hardware that has been standard on most home computers since the advent of the Intraweb but if you are at all leary about the exchange of blood necessary to add someone to your buddy list, I'd caution against it.

All it does is track track serverside account activity and indicate that somebody is logged in. Just like the "who's online" feature does (in fact, I'm 98% that it's just a customized interface for that same feature). It doesn't download (or activate) super secret spyware on your PC and steal your files. vBulletin already logs your IP address every time that you post. Morrus knows where you are. Sleep tight.

I see that the I.V. drip has already begun having an effect on your compliance, Buddy #13892. Continue to speak well of the UberBoardSystem Admins and your reward will be bliss.

Actually, I am an UberBoardSystem admin at RPGHost. My status as an Admin simply goes unnoticed, as I have had little reason to use it since I stepped down from my official position as an employee of RPGNow/OBS. I know where you are, too :D
