What DON'T you like about 1E AD&D?

That's my biggest problem with 1e (and 2e too actually). Since that's pretty much a fundamental part of the system (ie, you can't really change it without rewriting everything), that's the reason I don't play nor do I want to play it anymore.

Other problems:
- Rigid Race and Class Stratification

- Consulting tables to figure stuff out

I really do like the generic, almost 'anything goes' nature of 1e's setting and flavor, but the rules, not so much.

That's 64 hit points, not Hit Dice. Of course, her AC was something like -10 IIRC.

Yes, it was 64 hit points. I think she was a -8 AC. But, still if you always hit on a natural 20, a group of 60 archers is going to hit her 6 times each round (bows got 2 shots per round) and an average damage of 21 points damage per round (d6 avg damage of 3.5 x6) and she is down to 1 hp in 3 rounds...

Here's my list:

PHB & DMG weren't organized
Rules contained no central mechanic like d20
Class restrictions by race
There seemed to be a new rule for every situation

By sticking to the rules, even a poor DM with little or no imagination can run a really enjoyable game.

I just don't see how that's possible, regardless of system. A poor GM will run a poor game and no amount of rules can compensate for that.

And what '+' was required to hit her? The requirement for magical weapons changes the economics of using 60 archers a bit.

why this:
d6 avg damage of 3.5 x6

where did the 3.5 come?

and i dont think she would sit (seat?) around for 3 rounds, anyway ;)

i know about 1gp=1xp, but its not a "1ed" thing, as we had it earlier :)
