What exactly is a Cambion?

Greetings!

Yep, Cambions are an actual *name* for a half-fiend/half-human. Tieflings represent a being with significantly less than *half* demonic blood.

Tiefling is suppsed to represent a creature with some form of lower planes blood in them. This blood though can be a rather small percentage.

This is not entirely true - their description in the Players Guide to the Planes implies they merely need be 'planetouched' - and that can be the simple effects of living on a lower plane for too long. Generally though (and something that the monster entries in various sources support) they do have fiendish blood, yet that isn't required for a tiefling.

Cambions are straight half-breeds, hence very distinct from tiefers.
