What famous people have played D&D?

Wesley!

Will Wheaton is/was big into GURPS; he probably started with D&D (like most people), but GURPS is what he talks about on his blog.

George R. R. Martin states in the afterword to the first Wild Cards collection that the series was based on a Superworld campaign; Melinda Snodgrass was one of his group, and contributed Wild Cards stories as well as wrote some episodes of ST:TNG. Martin also mentions that he was turned off by AD&D, but got into Call of Cthulhu, which led to Superworld (another Chaosium/BRP product).

I can see GRRMartin getting turned off from D&D -- his big fantasy series now is everything D&D isn't -- dark, gritty, low-magic and low-heroics. What's perhaps more surprising is the amount of folks around here that love that book!

The Foo Fighters said they played D&D on an interview with MTV Europe some time ago...

I don't know if Jacques Villeneuve playes D&D, but I know he is a big fan of EverQuest.

I read somewhere that Metallica's "Thing That Should Not Be" was inspired by a tour bus CoC campaign.

I was about to ask about gaming church leaders and politicians, but at the last minute I thought "What the hell am I doing!?!" Sorry, mods. I'll leave it alone. :p

Robin Williams

I happen to know that Robin Williams plays Warhamster at LEAST.
I was partaking in a mini-convention in Cardhaus Games in Seattle, and the owner told me that Williams was coming over to check out the store. Indeed he did, and raised quite a few eyebrows and smiles. He eventually signed a couple things and walked out with a handful of Warhammer stuff.

It is rumored that he and his very good friend Billy Crystal get together when they can and have huge Warhamster battles and make a point of trash talking each other while their at it.

He also plays Online computer games with his son.

I never worked up the nerve to say Hi.

*sigh*

I am curious about the Bruce Campbell one, and by association Sam Raimi. I just finished reading Bruce Campbell's autobiography, If Chins Could Kill. There is no mention of D&D in his youth or any other time in it. Doesn't mean there wasn't, of course, but if not mentioned there, then where?
