What ficitonal character has been "reimagined" the most?

I'd say Robin Hood, as mentioned earlier in the thread. Robin Hood has been full on re-imagined (from Foxes to Costner, etc), and rebooted...amply. Robin Hood spreads across just about every type of media through many iterations of pop culture from ballads to comic books.

The Arthurian Legend is probably up there too, but it gets diluted somewhat because there are many cases where only one or two characters or a some plot thread is stolen for use elsewhere. On the other hand, Robin Hood is a single dude...and just keeps popping up about every decade or so in SOME form or another since the 15th century.

Hm. I don't know how many outright "reimaginings" there really are of Biblical material.

I'm aware of quite a few, though they seldom make it to visual media.

In film/TV, you're more likely to find a character or theme reimagined- see Dogma, The Prophesy, Da Vinci Code, anything with the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, etc.

Which brings me to my next suggestion: Satan.

Dracula.
There are more movies and books about Dracula than any other character. While similar, they are never the same.

The Devil/Satan would be a close second.

Several bible characters have been reimagined several times including Satan, Noah, Cain and Abel, Judas and even Jesus himself.

A definition of "reimagined" would be good.
Currently there are two definitions floating around here.

1. Having different fictional characters who behave similar to the original (applies to most historical examples in here).
2. Have the same character behave differently (comic books often do this to their characters).
