What format do you prefer for the gaming material you use?

Electronic vs. print has been a hot topic for a while and hit a fever pitch when Dungeon & Dragon had their print issues canceled. How do you prefer to have the gaming material you use, assuming you can't have both?

When I'm at the table, I like printed material. When I'm preparing for a game, I like electronic. I have a few books in both formats for just this reason.

100% print. I like owning and reading a physical product.

Print for books; and electronic for magazines.

You see, magazine articles I find interesting, but storage space is a real problem. Even more so when you consider how few are the number of articles that you actually *use* are, rather than just browse for inspiration.

So, being able to keep them on my harddrive, and print them out as required, will be a benefit.

But for books I need all the time? Print all the way.

Agreed all around. I also like the idea of things that are cut from a book for space reasons being made into web enhancements rather than falling through the cracks altogether.

For my taste, I still want it as a "pen & paper" game, not a "mouse & monitor" game. I've got CRPG for that.

I don't read large blocks of text on a computer screen, except where I'm compelled to by my job. I even frequently skip posts on message boards when they get too long. (And, despite having paid for the full subscription, I'm yet to read a single word of the "War of the Burning Sky".)

So, 100% print for me.

(Oh, and I should note: this is despite my being able to note several advantages of the electronic version: storage space, regular updates, ease of incorporating errata and, potentially, price being amongst them.)

I was going to vote "both". Paizo's scheme whereby if you are a suscriber you get both a watermarked PDF and a print copy is ideal for me.

I am a bit of a PDF convert though it really depends on the nature of the material. I end up printing PDF adventures (or portions of it, if only for the stat blocks -- gotta scribble all over those during play).

I don't often get PDF rulebooks or settings, I prefer print for those.

My last two groups have had a laptop available at the the table. Until then I would have said paper, but the ability to quickly search through a bunch of books for a certain rule, class, prestige class, or monster has changed that. I'll print a few pages each week.

I was originally going to have the question focus on what you "use" but there were so many variables that I shied away from that. While I agree both has the advantages, even if you have both you won't be using them simultaneously.
