What GM's sessions would you pay to be part of?

For me, it's a long list and a long-standing one, dating back to the moment I read the 1E Rogue's Gallery, realized that Bigby, Tenser, et al. were originally PCs, and wished with all my might that I could be a player in that campaign.

Who are the people whose imagination is so unique, or their writing so evocative, or their GMing skills so legendary, that you'd pay to experience them doing their thing just as you'd pay to see musicians or actors in a live performance?

These don't have to be famous names. They don't even have to be gamers, or alive -- although if they aren't it'll be harder for Otherworld Expeditions to hire them.

Rel and Piratecat. I've had the privledge to play in a few of PCs one shot games, but it'd be awsome to get the weekly. And Rel was the talk of Gen Con so getting in some of his games sounds like its worth the money.

But to go bigger names, Rob Schwalb running Thieves World, Monte running Arcana Evolved, Gygax running first edition D&D...those would just be sweet.

E. Gary Gygax
Jolly Blackburn

For me, "pay" means go to a Con and play in their game.

BTW, I played Metamorphosis Alpha with Drawmij running and Harold Johnson playing. It was a blast. Say what you want about Fast Forward d20 products, but Jim Ward is damn good behind the screen. Harold Johnson is a hoot.

Monte Cook certainly. Especially if running his home campaign (which is about to be a major d20 release after all).
James Wyatt especially if he's running the Indian Oriental Adventures game he put together (the free notes for which were nominated for an ENnie years ago, if memory serves).
Owen Stephens running dang near anything. He is both the author of the ENnie nominated Advanced GameMaster Guide and one of my favorite adventure writers (which is likely why Chris Pramas selected him to write the AGMG).

Someone mentioned Rob Schwalb running Thieves World. I'm pretty sure I saw Rob running Thievesd World at the open gaming area at the Hyatt this past Gen Con. Someone told me he was gaming with Owen and Lynn Abby but that sounds like fanboy rumor to me. Either way, clearly Rob does actually run the game, which is nice to know.

Thanks, Crothian. And incidentally, my wife says that you guys need to shut up about that "Year of Rel" business because it's making me even more insufferable than she ever thought possible.

I was probably pushing it when I asked if she wanted my autograph.

Anyway, I'm happy to say that gaming with Piratecat was just as wicked as I thought it would be and I'd drop a few bucks to do so again. I think playing an AE game with Monty would lure a bit of cash out of my wallet too. But honestly I've met so many great GM's from ENWorld through the NC Game Days and GenCon that I doubt I'd ever need to pay for excellent gaming.
