What good 'old' shows are worth the scratch?

Hoping that they get around to releasing "Maverick" (at least the first three seasons - the 4th and 5th were without James Garner). They did release a few dozen episodes on VHS but thus far only a three-episode sampler on DVD.

I love Jack of All Trades. The chemistry between the always groovy Bruce Campbell and the amazingly lovely Angela Dotchin is alone worth the price of admission. Throw in Verne Troyer as Napoleon and you can't go wrong.

I'd also highly recommend the first season (but only the first season) of Twin Peaks. I've re-watched these episodes recently, and they're still remarkable television. It's such a shame that the show quickly fell apart in season two.

For what it's worth "Jack of All Trades" has a really terrific opening theme song and IIRC Hypersmurf worked on it as a stunt man.

Yup. I found it a lot more fun to work on than Cleopatra 2525 (despite Gina Torres, Vicky Pratt, and Jennifer Skye), and it was annoying when they axed it to extend Cleo to an hour.

I'm not holding it up as an example of high art, but it was fun :)

Yeah, I was a member of the Columbia video club for this and have maybe 15-20 of the tapes (2 episodes per tape). I still haven't seen any of the Beau Maverick episodes. I've heard one or two were pretty good.

I've got TV shows in mind for purchase but am not sure what to get. Which of the following do you think are worth getting?

Of your list?

These four -- Land of the Lost, Tales from the Crypt, (Sir Arthur Con Doyle's) The Lost World, Magnum, P.I. -- I would check out for free from my local library, if they happened to have them on the shelf. I honestly wouldn't pay money for any of those shows.

From your list, I like:

Tales from the Crypt
In Living Color
Magnum, P.I.
The music videos from In Living Color are freakin' hilarious to this day.

Even considering Full House, OTOH, is just sick. ;)

re

Tales from the Crypt was fun. I also enjoyed the occasional episode of Night Gallery I caught on the tube.

I own only Cheers and Miami Vice as far as old TV shows go.

Some were, I haven't seen any of them since they in syndication on regular TV back in the early 1980's.
