What Happened to '[Insert 1E/2E Spell Name Here]'?

So I was working on customizing spell lists for my Aquerra setting and I suddenly realized there is no version of 'Sticks to Snakes' in 3E/3.5 that I could find. . .

Anyone know where I could find a conversion? Or give a decent reason why this spell isn't needed?

gone with the wind.

actually, i think they were trying to justify, saying that there are essentially other spells that can do the same thing? i really don't know though.

Clerics used to not have summon monster (I was shocked when 3rd Ed. gave it to them at 1st level!). Now you can just cast summon monster II (tiny fiendish viper), or a higher-level version for more or larger snakes, or pick a different monster if you're not chaotic or evil.

Sadly it's gone, along with lots of other wonderfully weird spells from earlier editions.

Hasn't someone updated this in a third party product though?

Necromancer's 'Eldritch Sorcery' contains both, 'Sticks to Snakes' and 'Snakes to Sticks'.

You beat me to it.

Necromancer Games should really try to market that book as an update of various old classics as it contains several other first ed spells too.

Sounds like it was a victim of the 'streamlining' of the rules.

Is affect normal fires available anywhere? We used that to great effect in the steading of the hill giant chief.
