What has been your geekiest moment?

Geekiest moment...well I'm certainly a gamer geek and have many small ones.
I think I've narrowed mine down to 2:
- My bachelor party was definitely geek-themed: I bought 2 boxes of magic boosters and had a couple draft tournaments with my friends.
- I spent $1000 on a laptop, sound mixer, and microphones to record our game sessions.

I'll let you all pick which one is geekier.

BlueBlackRed, how did that actually work out? I have thought about buying a digital voice recorder to record our sessions but this seems like a much better option. How difficult was it to set up?

$$$ = sound quality
I spent a lot of money because I wanted as little background humm as possible.
I previously used an MP3 player to record with, but just for my own listening, not for a podcast.

There's an obvious difference in sound quality from using a SanDisk MP3 player to using a mixer and 2 microphones. But the price can be killer ($100 vs $1000).

Please forgive my ignorance but what does the mixer do? And are the microphones wireless or do you have cords across the table? And are they the handheld type or do they sit on the table?

A mixer simply combines multiple microphones into one signal to your recording device (or computer program).
I did not get wireless mics. I did buy a couple of stands for them when we weren't playing at my place and have an overhanging setup for when we are at my place.

My Geekiest moment? Tough to choose. I would have to say one of the biggest ones was back in the early 80's a bunch of freinds and I were making a parody of several SF movies. Star Trek, Star Wars, Close Encounters, etc. We got hungry and all went to a local restaurant (Friendlys for those in New England) for lunch in costume. We did get really fast service though.

My geekiest moment: filling out some college paperwork I looked at the "race" space, put my pencil in my mouth and then wrote "human" and continued with the sheet.

I didn't realize what I had done until after I turned it in.

I had a pretty brilliant geek moment a couple of weeks ago.

In one of our games, I'm playing a tiny Dark Fey Dragon. The character has the hide in plain sight ability.

I described how he came about and kinda disappeared from view "Kinda like a Romulan Warbird, about to blast the crap out of the Enterprise..." One of the other players is ENWorlder Drowbane. He said. "I know exactly what you mean.. that's cool, and I can't believe how much of a Nerd you are."

I decided to take it as a compliment.

You're the reason they make it multiple choice now.

Kama Sutra dice, I assume? :o

My moment: I won 3rd place in a Star Trek impersonation contest. This was just after DS9 came out and I did Odo's voice.
