We find nimble more deadly than 5e. Could have been a weird night? What level? My players drop like flies at level four..... And defend a lot.

It was our only night so far, and they were level 1 pregens that I ran through the first adventure from the GMG. Just goblins. Mostly minions. A few flunkies. A ratrider in the 2nd encounter. We find nimble more deadly than 5e. Could have been a weird night?
Interesting. Who had more than one die while attacking, as you said primary die?It was our only night so far, and they were level 1 pregens that I ran through the first adventure from the GMG. Just goblins. Mostly minions. A few flunkies. A ratrider in the 2nd encounter.
I think only the Mage with Zap, but it's the general terminology all the same.Interesting. Who had more than one die while attacking, as you said primary die?
Remember minions all roll together when attacking one PC, and ignore ones when you roll a group! I forgot that once.Which makes me think of a question: With "Zap" (2d8, the mage hits themself on a miss). I assume that it's correct that the Mage takes the 1 from the primary die (that caused the miss) plus whatever is rolled on the 2nd d8 - so for the most part, the mage won't hurt themselves TOO badly, unless they roll a 7 or 8. (My son, playing the mage, rolled a 2 on the 2nd die, so he only took 3 damage. This was, the only time I remember a player missing all night, but it's possible that it happened one or two other times. But generally everyone was attacking and doing damage about twice per turn, at Level 1, which seemed like a lot. It was fast and furious though, and I don't plan to give up on the game or anything - I'm looking forward to giving it a better chance!
They mention on the rules to use the leftmost die after you roll as the primary die, but I guess you can use different colors or anything else if you prefer. When damage is 2d8, which die is primary? Do people use differently colored dice and just declare one primary? (I've only skimmed the quickstart...haven't played yet.)
Are there any "free" Nimble monsters other than those in the quickstart that would be good for testing out that party of pregens?
