The strange storm over New Falls has turned the sky into a roiling black mass punctuated by flashes and streaks of lightning. People continue to run for cover, but to no avail. The lightning isn't natural. It curves around trees, under awnings, passes through windows as if they weren't there. Not every bolt hits a panicked bystander, but several do. Every time, the results are the same: the one struck falls to the ground while a spectral image of the victim floats skyward.
Swirling in great circles above the city, concentrating toward downtown, are the Valkyries, armored warrior-women riding winged horses. They catch the spectral images and somehow put them into satchels carried on their saddles.
As Peter Parker and Rick Jones have discovered, the Valkyries themselves are immaterial. Parker's powerful telekinetic attack and Jones's mighty fists passed through them harmlessly, as if the Valkyries and their steeds have no more substance than air. Sam Wilson races along in a fiery blur, grabbing people on campus and rushing them indoors. He dodges two bolts of lightning along the way.
Bethany Cabe has donned her powered armor and is ready to take to the air. Benjamin Grimm is already airborne, flying along in his suped-up super-car. A flying dragonship manned by a score or more brutish warriors armed and armored with primitive weapons has just flown over his scrapyard, heading toward downtown.
In the bow of the dragonship, a towering, powerfully-muscled man with flaming red hair, bellows above the howling wind and rumbling thunder.
"Make ready, warriors! Thy mistress demands tribute!"

From behind his tree, Peter makes sure no one can see him. He quickly change his cloth, revealing his costume underneath.
Mind-Twist raise in the sky, his Force Field surrouding him. He fly toward the dragonboat.
What is happening? The nordic gods throw out a party and didn't invite me. That is rude. Maybe not, I'm always the one who doesn't know about open house party at school.
Seeing a group of Valkyries, Peter decide to see if they can be affected by mental power. He try to confuse them and there horses.
[SBLOCK=OOC]Confuse, area, on the largest group in sight. I use the sleective attack if some humans or humans spirit are in sight to spare them. DC should be 19.[/SBLOCK]

Ben Grimm angled his flying hover car under the bow of the Dragonship. He examined it as he flew past. "What the hell is keeping this blamin' boat up in the air? I see no means of propulsion! Those oars almost look like they are actually moving the thing somehow. Well lets put that theory to the test." Boggled, yet resolute that something need to be done Grimm passed the ship from underneath and did a 'Bootleg Reverse' in mid-air. Intent on sideswiping all the oars on the left hand side of the ship. "Alright ya crumbums! Mama Grimm's baby-boy will show ya not ta mess with his new home-town!"

Time to shake,rattle, and roll.
Time to shake,rattle, and roll. I couldn't touch the opera singers, but maybe Red will be easier to hit. Agent Gamma squats down, his massive quads coiling like a bear trap. He springs forward, aiming for the dragonship.
OOC:Once he makes it to the ship he'll use takedown Attack to sweep the minions helping the big redhead. If he makes it all the way through them, he'll attack the redhead.

Bethany activates the flight rockets in her suit, and the untested rockets clearly are putting strain on the suit as the radio connection to base completely cuts out.
Just gotta make it to the ship so I can do something about these warrior women...come on suit!
OOC[sblock]using my starting hero point to add the Alternate Power feat to my communication power, gaining the alternate power: Flight 3. I never added flight as a feature in my initial design, and until I have the PPs for it, my flight jets will just only work sometimes. Today they knock out all of my communications[/sblock]

Mind-Twist takes to the storm-tossed sky, surrounded by his force field, heading toward the dragonship which he can just see passing between Main and Eighth Streets. He focuses his psionic powers on a "flock" of Valkyries. About a half-dozen of the warrior-women and another twelve or so winged horses succumb to the effects. Confusion rips through the ranks. Some babble incoherently. Others flee. Three turn on their fellows. One Valkyrie is so enraged she turns her steed toward Mind-Twist and charges, spear lowering for the strike. A few more continue to harvest spirits.
Redline turns his flying car up Washington Boulevard, racing in behind the dragonship, swooping in from underneath it while reversing direction. His remarkable vehicle crashes through a bank of oars. Thick wood snaps. A few warriors are knocked over as oars are torn from their grasp. As Redline races around to set up for further action, he sees a most remarkable sight.
A woman in what appears to be a full-body suit of armor roars into view like a guided missile. She slides in for a landing on the rear deck of the dragonship. Several Vikings ready their weapons and prepare to charge. Then, with a deck-splitting impact, a huge green-skinned man lands next to the woman. Stronghold and Agent Gamma have arrived.
The burly, red-haired warrior in the dragonship's bow whirls about, raising a large-headed, short-handled hammer overhead.
"No quarter!" he bellows as lightning flashes and thunder rumbles. "Thy queen commands us, and the Mighty Thor speaketh her will!"
OOC: The battle begins in earnest next post.
