What info would you want in a New DM only book??

Well I don't need:
Feats,
Spells,
PrCs,
Magic
adventures.

I need:
basic plot structures.
Worldbuilding
Handleing NPCs / Interesting monsters
Tricky rule interpretations
New mechanics like sanity from CoC
Handeling common problems.
Exapmle Newsletters.
List on internet resources.
All of this shrink wrapped into a 2" D-binder set up to be a DM's binder

Re: NPC's

maybe an array of NPC's, that would be easily molded into many different campaign settings. I do think that would be a plus.

How would they differ from the NPC tables in the DMG? They're pretty generic.

One might hope that their selection of skills and feats were chosen a little more carefully ;)

Or to be serious - the original Star Wars d20 had a brilliant set of NPCs, created using multiclassing: typical administrators, assassins, bounty hunters, con artists, Crimelords, dark jedi, elite troopers, fallen jedi, pilot, gambler, medic, military officer, outlaw, pirate, smuggler, spy. Each of these displayed at level 4, 8 and 12, and in several cases showing the route to particular prestige classes.

I think this kind of thing would be excellent for D&D, and I would greatly prefer it to having generic fighters, rogues or wizards of every level.

Cheers

variant rules

I think an a large optional rule section would be a FABULOUS edition. Many people have a large section of house rules. Include these in the list, so a dm can customize his game with aid instead of doing something tha hasn't been playtested.

If it contained any NPC's, I know I wouldn't be interested. I mean come on, if you need a generic NPC, check the DMG, and if you have something specific in mind, make one.

In fact, if it was at all "crunchy" I'd probably pass.

You know that 'table' in the DMG called "101 adventure ideas?" I would like to see an entire book like that, only with a paragraph or two detailing each plot, rather than a sentence. I would seriously pay $50 bucks for something like that (if it was the page-length of the DMG and got good reviews :)) And if there were two such volumes, I would buy them both.

You can't put a price on raw creative talent. It's infinitely undervalued by WotC, I think.

How to set up higher level play, as well as preparing, in plots, for spells such as Divinations, Teleporting, etc.

A book with no need for eratta, which is read through, several times, for errors. Very few rules variatons.

Ways to involve horror, mystery, romance, etc, in adventures.

I want to dosagree with TiQuinn:D I'm not picking on you but I don't want Greyhawk spelled out. What we have now is fine. These are not the droids you are looking for:p I want to see some of the "grey" areas played out as munchkinny as they can be so you can see how not to do it:eek: I also would like the spells RP out with the materials. Finally, I'd like to see tables upon tables the kind you find in the old Dragon mags on the material components and what do you call a 25th level wizard and oh also more on Languages!

Something less "crunchy" would be nice. By that I suppose I really mean that there are just too many new spells, feats, and PrCs around to possibly be useful. I could certainly live with some viable rules for mass combat however.
