What info would you want in a New DM only book??

Sounds like there is a real need for a 2nd DM's book.

I would like optional rules explaned better and lots more tables and solid advice and idea's for high level play.

Plus solid ways to deal with infighting and other real life problems of DM'ing like a collection of all the useful advice from the Dragon Mag on good DM.

A DM's only book?
I would like to see something on monster creation. I'm big on creating monsters. I love the "What the HONK!! is THAT?!? look they get.

I'm also into new classes. Something to help me out there would be appreciated.

More rules for fighting in hazardous or dramatic situations would be nice. Fighting in ankle deep water/ mud/ blood/ dwarven whiskey/ healing potion; while swinging from a rope; on a narrow bridge; sliding down a hill; sledding down a hill; Jackie Chan stunts, etc.

A workable mass combat system geared towards the PC's actions would be wonderful. Miniatures optional.

And finally, a good DM's only book needs a GOOD HEFTY PADLOCK!!
 

Calculating CR for various scenarios, and giving out XP for various solutions.

Calculating the EL for encounters where one side has a tactical advantage, where both sides are of composed of creatures with different individual CRs, etc.

How to assign a CR to a modified creature. How to assign a CR to a newly made up creature.

How to assign an EL for a non-combat encounter.

And many many many many examples of all of the above.

All of these ideas are great! Heck, they'd make 2 or 3 decent sized books.

A section on "common" house rules is definately a plus to new DM's who don't like certain rules, but aren't able to rewrite them for themselves.

The one thing you should be aware of is this: YOUR PLAYERS WILL GET THEIR GRUBBY FINGERS ON IT.

So having a book full of stuff you don't want your players to know probably won't go over well. But stuff that is usefull for DM's that won't foster PC metagaming is what will do best.
 

i was thinking of a skills and powers type book with a complete breakdown of the way they make classes AND TAKE YOUR TIME!!!

but must have more adventure ideas
