A campaign is the story of a group of adventurers. When you make a new adventuring group, its a new campaign, even if its with same DM, and in the same world, and even if it has the same BBEG. If there is carry over from the first group of adventurers, then its still the original campaign.

Yeah - I pretty much agree with many folks in here: the campaign is a pc centered story ... whatever the story or stories, the consistent part is the pc's.

I voted for "single world, may have multiple parties and stories" with the caveat that it all has to interconnect. Continuity and consequences.

Campaign = One DM, running one specific setup for a game, players and characters may rotate in and out, but a new DM usually means new campaign.

Campaigns have more to do with the storyline to me, rather than the participants.

Wut he said.

I was going to give a long winded speech but Henry pretty much sum'd it up for me.

Great responses. I'd say all of the above. I also agree that a campaign is an overall plot that is seen through to its end. The end being either the PCs retiring or a TPK.

I went with one party, though a campaign might well finish with none of the characters it started with. It's a new campaign when we decide to make a fresh batch of characters with a new starting point.
