What is Effective level of Solar Angel?

Say, do you guys know what the level adjustment of a paragon template would be? I've got a PC saying he knows what it is, but it's not listed in the ELH.

There is no official LA for it. By U_K's reckoning again, +28 ECL.

Of course, the problem with just saying it's +28 ECL is that there is no HD added, which is a huge detractor. U_K has a method for dealing with this usually, called the Golden Rule (and also, for more extreme cases, the compound Golden Rule) which says that at least 1/2 your ECL should stem from HD, and you halve the remaining. So if you had 20 HD and you took the paragon, you'd have 20 ECL from class levels, which allows 20 ECL from the template, with 8 left over, which you halve, for a total of ECL 44 (instead of 48).

A little complicated, yes, but it does correct the imbalance a little. Compounding the rule, a first level character with the paragon template would be ECL 7 or 8 (depending which way you round)... representing the fact that yes, you have a lot of advantages, but you've only got 1 freaking hit die! Similarly, a 5th level paragon would be ECL 20 or 21 (again, depending on which way you round off).

Yep.

You can get it here. Note that the assumption he makes at this point is the ECL = CR. As such, wherever it reads "CR", mentally substitute "ECL" instead. As it says later, WotC CR usually equals 2/3s ECL, and does so in almost all cases, with notable exceptions (almost all dragon CR = 1/2 ECL for instance).

If you want to read about the compound golden rule (which doesn't come up often, except in extreme silly cases) you can read the thread here (starting at post 3).

What you're stating, if I remember right, is that Upper solved CR=ECL(so in the v5 booklet, +28.19 cr= +28.19 ECL), but Wizards still has it all messed up. Would that be correct.

As an aside, what all happens to the 20th level monk with perfect bodies, it says they get spell and magic immunities of Outsides and DR 10/magic but nothing else. I'm not sure what Outsiders are immune to and if monks get any other traits of outsiders.

If CR is defined as a "moderate challenge for a group of 4 party members, each of their ECL = the CR", and where "moderate challenge" is defined as "using roughly 1/4 the party's daily resources" with victory more or less assured (nearly 90% chance of victory), than the WotC CRs are usually pretty accurate (with some exceptions, particularly dragons), and can be demonstrated via rigorous playtesting.

If CR=PC Class Levels, then the CRs are not accurate. You can only solve for one or the other, not both at once.

As for outsiders, the SRD is handy here.
SRD 3.5 said:
Outsider Type: An outsider is at least partially composed of the essence (but not necessarily the material) of some plane other than the Material Plane. Some creatures start out as some other type and become outsiders when they attain a higher (or lower) state of spiritual existence.

Features: An outsider has the following features.

*8-sided Hit Dice.
*Base attack bonus equal to total Hit Dice (as fighter).
*Good Fortitude, Reflex, and Will saves.
*Skill points equal to (8 + Int modifier, minimum 1) per Hit Die, with quadruple skill points for the first Hit Die.

Traits: An outsider possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry).

*Darkvision out to 60 feet.
*Unlike most other living creatures, an outsider does not have a dual nature—its soul and body form one unit. When an outsider is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead, reincarnate, and resurrection, don’t work on an outsider. It takes a different magical effect, such as limited wish, wish, miracle, or true resurrection to restore it to life. An outsider with the native subtype can be raised, reincarnated, or resurrected just as other living creatures can be.
*Proficient with all simple and martial weapons and any weapons mentioned in its entry.
*Proficient with whatever type of armor (light, medium, or heavy) it is described as wearing, as well as all lighter types. Outsiders not indicated as wearing armor are not proficient with armor. Outsiders are proficient with shields if they are proficient with any form of armor.
*Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep.

Well, the PHB makes the statement that A 20th level monk is unaffected by the charm spell, I'm only assuming that's because you turn into a monster and not a humanoid. I was wondering if there were more applications of this, like dominate person v dominate monster.
