I don't think it actually gives guidelines for NPC classes does it? In that case, it is up to the DM to make a decision on how much gold a 1st level Expert should have.

I thought all 1st level npcs started out with 900 gp. On that table for starting gold by level. Or maybe that is assuming the 1st level character has done some stuff.

I dread the day when a player insists his character should start play with 900 gold worth of gear. Oh, the argument that will ensue ...

I had some first level character insist he start off with 2 potions recently...900 gp for an entry level character, puh-lease!

I think common sense should prevail here--an expert cobbler would probably not have all that much as contrasted with say an expert tapestry maker or jeweler or goldsmith...
