I kind of like Weapons Master, but the problem is, as you go up levels, more and more things are immune to crits. Any other good meele fighter PrCs out there? If you suggest one, please also tell us what book it's from.
I like the War Master Prc for fighters. It adds a lot of flavor to a character because it doesn't improve his fighting too much, but it helps you build on his other traits. he gets a better leadership score, he gets some ally boosting abilities and he gets some strongholds and keeps and the such.
This is one of my favorite PrC's for the fighter. Then again, I don't play a fighter much. I prefer sticking people with a dagger when they don't know I am there.
If you don't mind playing a Half-Orc, the Tribal Protector PrC from Sword and Fist is pretty cool.
At second level of the PrC you get Wild Fighting, which allows you to make another melee attack at -2 to all your attacks, kind of like a like Rapid Shot but with melee weapons.
And if you're not above having multiple PrC's, combine this PrC with Frenzied Beserker (Masters of the Wild) and possibly Holy Liberator (Defenders of the Faith) and you'll have a strong melee character with great saves that's immune to charm/compulsion.
I understand your anguish... there arent many good melee fighter PrCs...
I say getting a few levels of barbarian or rogue help out a bit... maybe ranger depending on your race. As far as PrC go I like the Holy Liberator... but its almost a paladin... needs high charisma.
Try the Axe Idiot from the Forgotten Realms... its similar to beserker... very funny PrC for Dwarves. (Not sure what book its in thou.)
Hmmm. I'd forgotten about the Templar. Mettle is a great ability: Evasion for Will and Fortitude saves! Isn't one of the prereqs being able to cast divine spells, though?
