D&D 5E What is the point of material components when Wish exists?

All those levels, all that XP, all those years of adventuring, and you eventually have enough power to cast Wish...so that you can enjoy counting all that money saved from not having to shell out on material components, whilst locked in your permanent panic room (private sanctum) so you don't have to go out into the world and deal with immediate threats that can't wait until tomorrow.
Howard Hughes? Not my idea of fun.

Has anybody even read the spell text? YOU DON'T LOOSE WISH AFTER YOU USED IT TO CAST ANOTHER SPELL.

The spell slot used to cast it is expended just like casting any other spell. You don't get to use a 9th level slot to duplicate another spell AND not expend the slot.

Yes, you... and sleeping for 8 hours is somehow worth more than 1500gp how exactly?

If anybody is willing to pay me 1500$ for sleeping please do not hesitate to PM me, I am open to requests.

Not everyone's campaign so is non-eventful that going to sleep for 8 hours in all situations where 9th level magic needs to be utilized is an available option. Heck I wouldn't even bother including the spell in my campaign if it wasn't exciting or interesting enough to use for anything but saving a bit of gold.
