What is the price for a red dragon's egg?

Actually I don't recall seeing this in any edition, though I never looked for it.

A Google search turned up an answer from the 3.0 Arms and Equipment Guide, pg 85.

Price of a dragon egg starts from 10,000.

Based on the random loot tables, your easiest bet is 1:1

Then the price depends on the buyer, an auction brings many buyers, but may end with the theft of the egg if the egg becomes public knowledge

I'd start with the 10k mark, then let the players see if they can get a better offer.

I'd think too selling a dragon egg, of any sort, would be sort of a black-market kind of deal or risk the wrath of mommy. (assuming you didn't kill her to get the egg). Other dragons may not take kindly to such things as well.
