Its very handy. It provides quick ideas. I dont really use the tables as tables, but as lists for inspiration it is very very good.

In this thread http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43778 Psion said it was the among the most crucial gaming books he owned. I think I saw Buttercup say something similar.

So what is it? Who's it by? Should I go get it RIGHT NOW?!?!?

Toolbox is a collection of random tables covering a wide variety of topics and situations: wandering monsters, NPC names and descriptions, where secret doors might be found, unusual gravesites, etc. It's intended for use in-game for generating material off the cuff, and pre-game as a source of ideas to get your creative juices flowing. Check out the EN World reviews for more details.

I wouldn't say that it's the best thing since sliced bread, but depending on your DMing style it might turn out to be very useful. The amount of space wasted (IMO) on random monster tables, along with other things (like name generators) that I don't need amounted to about 1/3 of the book, so I decided not to pick it up. Some of the tables are really quite neat, and YMMV.

thanks! btw, the reason i called it toolkit was because that's what Psion called it in the thread i linked to at the top.
