What is your best product? (Publisher Challenge)

Elemen Opie

First Post
In the world that constitutes my real life I go long stretches without getting paid. You see, I work on contract and often work on a project for months without pay and then experience a huge windfall when finished.

I used to play a lot (2e) and have just started on 3e. I own the 3 corebooks only, but just got paid for a 7 months job.

My question to each publisher and writer on these boards is: "I am about to go on a d20 spending spree, if you could reccomend one product for me to buy that represented the quality of work i could expect from you or your company what would it be?"

Any takers on this one?

I'll bite ;-)

Okay, as a freelancer: At the Edge of Dreams , from Monkey God Enterprises. My second adventure with them, it lacks many of the mistakes (I think) from my first adventure, Song of Storms... and both of them are very story-driven adventures.

As Line Editor for Sovereign Stone: The Codex Mysterium for Sovereign Stone. Though not our core rulebook, the Codex fully details the unique magic system of our campaign system, including rules on creating your own spells, magic items, and the like. It gets rid of the memorize, cast, forget slots and replaces it with Casting Thresholds (spellusers get to roll dice!)

As a writer for Sovereign Press: Hands down, the upcoming Dragonlance Campaign Sourcebook, due out in August. A labor of love, long hours of overtime, and lots of highs and lows, thus far, I feel it truly represents my creative progress.

Please, describe your current game, thoughts on your own gaming style (and group) and your feelings regarding print (hardcover/softcover) and PDF product mediums.

If you are addressing publishers, wouldn't the publisher forum be better?

He'd get a far fewer posts to his question, though. I'm sure the board member oinions would be just as valuable to him. :)

My groups current game is medium-fantasy. We have each just earned 3rd level.

We play in a decent semblance of northeastern Europe in 1450-1500.

As for print vs. .pdf i personally prefer hardback or .pdf for indestructability.

What I have from publishers

If you are talking adventures:-

Black Ice Well from MonkeyGod

and Hall of the Rainbow Mage from Necromancer Games. I am a fan of Necromancer games and could recommend the whole lot (except the maze series).

From WoTC City of the Spider Queen

From Troll Lord, Heart of Glass.

If we are talking supplements:-

Book of the Righteous from Green Ronin

Tome of Horrors from Necromancer Games

Traps and Treachery 1 and 2 from Fantasy Flight

Relics and Rituals from Sword and Sorcery. There is also the Creature Collection 2 and the Ghelspad Harcover covering the continent but I am trying to limit things.

Book of Vile Darkness from WoTC.

Urban Blight from Mystic Eye

Bluffside: City on the Edge from Thunderhead (now owned by Mystic Eye.)

Slayers Guide to Dragons from Mongoose.

I have bought Fast Forward stuff. I have seen other of their material. I will not be buying things again from them.

I have only one PDF currently available and I think it's dang good. (Almost forgot Eric's Grandma.) Of course the normal answer to this kind of question is going to be, "what I'm working on now." But I'd put Joe's Book of Enchantment up against anything anyone else will recommend here. I admit it is lacking in artwork. But that's its only fault (and only if you consider a lack of artwork a fault). And if you don't believe me, check out the Reviews Page right here at ENWorld.
