D&D 5E (2014) What is your favorite encounter site or dungeon from an official module?

It was my first introduction to hacking! I can't remember if I used Locksmith or Copy 2+ on my Apple 2 to read and edit the saved game file. I did the same with the BattleTech game and eventually worked up to cracking copy protection and modifying other games. Not much else to do in the middle of nowhere in the 1980s!

I used my Laser 128 to hack my local library and assign overdue books to my enemies! I read Neuromancer and it changed my life.

Never tried hacking Pool of Radiance, but my friend and I tried to force one of the Krynn Goldbox games to accept our Azure Bonds characters. It kind of worked, they imported with a few wonky stats and really nonsensical items. The best was a weapon made up of ascii characters that acted like a ranged Dragonlance that any character could equip. We quickly cloned that item, it was like having death lasers for dragons.

Spelljammer Academy: Orientation is currently my favourite encounter and is possibly the besy opening for any official 5e adventure module.

Spoiler

At the start of the game, the adventurers roll initiative and are immediately plunged into a cinematic battle on a Spelljammer ship against wave after wave of Astral Reavers. After a TKPO (the battle is intentionally un-winable), the players/cadets find out that they were actually in a illusory Kobayashi Maru training simulation!

You CAN transfer from Curse of the Azure Bonds onward to the Savage Frontier games, with only a little corruption! The grand campaign is:

Pool of Radiance > Gateway to the Savage Frontier > Curse of the Azure Bonds > Treasures of the Savage Frontier > Secret of the Silver Blades > Pools of Darkness.

You just have to transfer from Pool to Curse, then immediately transfer from Curse to Gateway (not actually playing Curse until later).

Yes!

I was able to edit my 'mechs in the game to model a Warhammer, Marauder, and Rifleman as my lance. Given that the heaviest 'mech in the actual game was an UrbanMech, it made my playthrough a lot easier. I still remember the armor health bars extending off the screen for the heavies.

Random fact - LRMs weren't coded into the game at all, so you couldn't do Archers or Griffins, but the game did have PPCs even though I don't think any 'mechs in the game were equipped with them.

I love this! Every now and then I replay the Gold Box games, so I’ll definitely try it!
