what is your favorite Final Fantasy game and why ?

While this topic has been done to death, I still enjoy expressing my views. Having played every Final Fantasy (though not all to completion), Final Fantasy Tactics solidly ranks as the best. I sunk more hours into that game than any other. As other have stated, 6 is probably the most memorable normal FF. I really like 5 though, but then I love the job system. It actually makes the normally staid combat of RPGs interesting. Finally, of the newer ones, FF9 is my favorite. First game in the series to consistently provoke laughs and smiles. Zidane was refreshing after the two mutes of Squall and Zidane.

Well, considering that the more recent Final Fantasy titles seem more like movies than games, maybe this thread does belong in this forum.

VI is easily my favorite, so many great characters and scenes. After that it's hard to pick between Tactics, I, IV, VII, and IX. I actually replayed the first one not to long ago on the PS and I'm currently replaying VI.

Final fantasy tactics is the best final fantasy game followed closely by final fantasy 5.
Fft- is the only final fantasy game i can keep playing over and over again, working on beating it for the 6th time.
Ff5- is a fun and creative game, the job system was well done and extremely fun.

IV (as 2)

one of the best games ever.

the music in Fabul. amazing.

the guy tripping as youre retreating. exciting.

Building up a party, and then your boat sinks and leaves you all alone again. Crazy :-D

Polom and Porom saving you from the room with walls closing in. Shocking. (One of the first video game moments to achieve emotion, at least for me)

VI (as 3) was a bit hard, and I got stuck 3/4 through and never fought with it.

i skipped VII cuz I didnt have a ps, and then i played VIII first.

VIII was SOOOOOOOOO bad that I swore off the series.

Final Fantasy 7 for me without a doubt.

It was the first I played it was fun, involving, had great music, dramtic gripping storyline and from a game perspective it was fun and easy to play..pure gold!

I've played most except the last couple out now but although still great games none has moved me in quite the way 7 did.
