What is your favorite low level Druid Spell?

Djeta Thernadier

First Post
I recently started playing a 3rd level Druid. Thus far, my favorite spell is probably Flame Sphere, but there are so many cool sounding ones I want to try out. I'm looking forward to get a chance to try out Summon Swarm...

What are your favorite spells for Druids? How do you use them? Are there any seemingly boring spells that you have found good uses for? Are there any Druid spells you just think are totally useless?

Thanks
Sheri

I actually got to use Entangle for the first time on Sunday. Worked great in holding back about 4 or 5 goblins who were huddled in some brush waiting to attack us. :)

I sometimes feel like my group is only happy to have a druid along for my cure spells. I guess a lot of people playing druids and clerics must have to deal with that. Do you ever get that?

Tree shape. That spell's so much fun (although the druid in our current game actually used this spell as an example why the druid is lame in his opinion), not only for players but for the DM. Nothing says "druid" like an NPC who was a tree mere moments ago. Of course, the NPC might be a ranger, but that's beside the point ;)

no more so than the fighter types get stuck doing the melee combat or the rogue types get called forward to search for traps or unlock doors or the wizard types get suckered into casting their spells.

each character is unique. it is all in how you play the type and how you explore the class.

In a campaign that I play a sorceror in (6th level), another player plays a druid (7th level). The spell he casted the most since he was 3rd level is Summon Nature Ally II: Hippogriff. It is a campaign where we are often faced by hordes of mooks instead of single powerful critters, so those hippogriffs have saved us quite many times. Their space is 10, so they become targets pretty quick, and that's attacks the rest of us don't have to suffer.

Not IMC. The one that cures the most is the ranger with his wands of cure light wounds. Like I previously said, the druid is mainly a summoner (he took the feat augment summoning or somesuch to give summoned critters +4 str and +4 con).

Good lord, yes, although more in 2E than 3E. As the only healer in the group, I remember at some point that all of my druid's first level spell slots were taken up by cure light wounds. :\

As for low level spells in 3.x, I probably used speak with animal and magic fang the most - we used that on the monk character a lot. Later on, stone shape became the favorite. The nice thing about the druid spells is that they are useful, if not glamorous, and not a lot of dead weight.
