I think they're all pretty good too, I just don't like to play Gnomes. But I do know that everyone plays their characters differently.

On another note, for those who answer Other, what race are you talking about?

I don't understand the hatred towards gnomes and halflings. Now the hatred towards Elves and Half-Elves THAT I can understand.

Seems like every time an elf gets introed into the campaign it means there is a new munchkin in town. Easily the most overused and abused race in D&D.

And Half-Elves are just dull, dull, dull.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

Me too. I like them all. I LOVE then halfling. I hated the old one though. If that had been an entry I would have chosen it.

I like the new gnomes too. So much more realistic. I love all the pictures of Nebin.

I'll agree about elves. Lordy are they annoying.. (Trance? If by "trance" you mean "eight hours of normal sleep", then yeah, whatever you wanna call it.).. but I have a severe dislike, in general, of halflings. To start off, they were way too hobbitty. Tolkein is great and all, but sheesh. Why on earth would any AD&D halfling have ever adventured? In 3rd edition, it makes more sense, but I still don't like 'em much. Gnomes I don't mind so much though. The campaign I'm DMing actually has a gnome NPC -- the party convinced Erky Timbers from the Sunken Citadel to stick around.

That's one of the things 3E has done right: races.

Gnomes are no longer just sawed-off dwarves who can be illusionists--they come across as somewhat magical beings.

Elves are no longer the province of munchkins. The new multiclassing and feat rules have taken care of that. It used to be I played the only human in a party of elves. now I'm the only elf in a mostly human party. Weird how that is.

Dwarves and Halflings I haven't got that much experience with. Half-Orcs still have some disadvantages, but they've been given a real personality, so that helps.

Gotta go with elves, they should all die slow and paiful deaths. (or be rewritten so they don't suck) I hate the I'm fruity and carefree, except when we are talking about something that is cool and powerful then I'm a studious freak of nature who masters all things cool crap.(either you chaotic and carefree or your not dang it). I hate how the 4 hours meditation crap isn't even listed as a benefit in the PH, just sort of an aside in the description.

But hey I like my victorianesq snob elves.

Gnomes.

Sorry, I've played 1e and 2e too long and in both of those games there was no compelling reason for Gnomes to exist. They didn't have a unique role aside from being Dwarves for people who want to max out on magic items.

In my homebrewed campaign worlds, I would usually either leave off Gnomes entirely or have them as immigrants from Krynn; where, say what you will about them, they at least had a distinct flavor.

The New Gnomes, ehhh. Not really my thing either but at least they're distinct. Still don't ever see myself playing one but I no longer write them out of my campaigns automatically.
