What is YOUR level??

I highly doubt anyone on here is above 10th level in terms of anythign sans some PHD wielding historian who would be an expert or perhaps a black belt in 2 marital arts forms that has had 10+years of training...
Kind of agree on this.
Especially since I qualify as the "PHD wielding", with 19 years of training in firearms (yes I started early) :)
So let's see how it goes:
Str: 12 (A little over average)
Dex: 10
Con: 8 (Strange: I have survived some amazing injuries and can drink even moreamazing quantities, on the other hand I'm often sick. Seems low con with high level and feats)
Int: 18 (If you assume that 18=1/256 of population, then easily yes, if you assume Int=Qi/10, which by the way I don't agree, then yes too, If Int=education then I'd still say yes... Honnestly I think we are way more complex than 6 numbers)
Wis: 16 (Several years of phylosophy raised the stats by 2 points ;) )
Cha: 12 (above average)

Language: French, English, German, Latin, beginner in Japanese. (4 extra language, fits with 18 Int)
Classes:
Fighter (no shield, medium or heavy armor, but 2 bonus exotic weapon instead): 4
Wizard (academic concept from quintessential wizard): 5
Ok, that's a lot of level, but honnestly 1PHD, 2 masters and 19 years of weapon training (with several competitions)... That has to be quite rare.
Also the spells are scientific tricks that would seem like magic to most people. And my boss always says I use sorcery in my experiment :)
Feats: Exotic weapon proficiency (kukri, free), Exotic weapon proficiency (modern firearm, free), resist poison (have to explain why I can drink so much or survive in my lab), point blank shot, far shot, precise shot, rapid shot, skill focus (kn-engineering, free), Spell mastery (illusory script, pyrotechnics, true strike, dispel magic. Bonus), Weapon focus (handgun), weapon focus (rifle), weapon specialization (handgun).

Skills: Academic concept is here to explain the many knowledge skill, and the skill focus feats.
Alchemy: +8
Move silently: +4
Listen: +7
Hide: +2
Kn-Mathematics: +16
Kn-engineering: +18
Kn-legends: +18
Kn-religion: +12
Kn-nature: +8
Kn-history: +16
Kn-literature: +12
Concentration: +8
Gather information: +4
Intimidate: +6

Re: Re: IQ/10 /= Int

I also caution people who have "taken tests" and "know" their IQ scores. Unless you've taken one of the standardized professional IQ tests, which involved lots of different tasks (many of which are not paper and pencil), administered to you by a qualified professional (which takes several hours to administer, and just as long or longer to score), you do NOT know your IQ score.

I have been tested extensively with the real deal. Took like three weeks with sessions in the afternoon. So it seems like, from your description, IQ is more of a snapshot of where the whole mind is in relation to the norm.

As for the IQ = Wis argument... I hardly think HOW you use information classifies as wisdom... might not be INT totally, but its not WIS for sure.

After reading the post about what the IQ score means, then yeah, IQ /= wis. I think (now) IQ deals with total mind.

I think Wis IS how you use and process information. The old description went somthing like this:

"Intelligence tells you its raining, Wisdom tells you to go inside."

How can putting on a coat because its cold not be wisdom? Intelligence does not tell you to do these things. Intelligence tells you it is cold and that the consequences might be bad. Wisdom is your good judgement and tells you that you should take action. Intelligence tells you coats are warm, wisdom tells you to put it on. The OED states it as:

1. a. Capacity of judging rightly in matters relating to life and conduct; soundness of judgement in the choice of means and ends; sometimes, less strictly, sound sense, esp. in practical affairs: opp. to folly.

4. Sanity, ‘reason’

This is why really intelligent people often do really dumb (read unwise) things. Like getting hit by a bus. obviously the person hit did not think to watch for buses. That is a failure in reason to tell your body, eyes and ears to gather information. If the person saw the bus and contiued with stepping in front of it simply because they disregarded the information, it is a failure of wisdom, not intelligence. They knew the bus was there why did they not stop?

Looking at the PH definitions, Wisdom is willpower, common sense, perception, and intuition. Also wisdom has to do with being aware of your surroundings. Intelligence is apparently learning and parsing (reasoning or analyzing).

So with this information I am willing to rearrange my definition. Wisdom is using what you know in relation to your environment.

That revises my stats! I have an Int of14! Woohoo!

Aaron.

I'm using the stuff in the Shadowchasers mini-game for my charact...errrr...uh...me.

Jason
Charismatic Hero 1/Smart Hero 1

STR 12 (going by the PHB Carrying capacity table, and assuming that max weight is sort of like max bench...this might work... i haven't benched in ages and couldn't really tell you what i can bench.. the 130 max lbs. sounds like a very safe option to pick i suppose)

DEX 10 (they trusted me enough in karate class to give me weapons, so i can't be THAT clumsy...)

CON 12 (I'm sick maybe two or three times per year)

INT 13 (I don't even know my IQ... but I'm 5th in my class and in all honors classes, and got a 4 on my A.P. European and United States History tests...you can boost up my INT score if you really want to)

WIS 10 (not bad, not great)

CHA 14 (I'm not ass-ugly, I'm pretty good with people, I'm well-mannered, and have a very powerful voice that everyone at school knows me for)

Feats: Archaic Weapon Proficiency (sai), Martial Arts
Skills:

Balance +1
Bluff +2
Computer Use +1
Concentration +1
Diplomacy +1
Forgery +2
Gather Information +1
Knowledge (History +2, Chemistry +1, D&D +5)
Peform (Flute +5, Singing +1, Dance Dance Revolution +2, Acting +3, Lame Jokes +12, Speaking +1)
Read/Write Language (German) +1/2
Search +1
Speak Language (German) +1/2
Spot +0
Swim +0

Yeah...that sorta sums me up. I'm a 2nd degree brown belt in Isshinryu Karate. I haven't been to class in years since the dojo near me closed, but I'll still say that I have it, LOL. I've played flute for over 6 years, and have a pretty good voice and imagination for acting, so there's my reason for the scores there. DDR...well I just am addicted to the bloody game, so I'm getting halfway decent. Lame Jokes...well...some of them ARE really really bad, lol. I've had one year of high school german, so I'll call that a half rank. That's pretty much all that requires explanation, though.

Skills- Bluff (aka scientific paper-writing BS) +6, Concentration +6, Diplomacy +8, Gather Info +6, Intimidate +3, Knowledge (Biology) +8, Knowledge (Neuroscience) +11, Knowledge (Psychology) +7, Knowledge (too much gaming stuff) +9, Ride +2, Search +4, Spot +4, Swim +3

Feats: Skill focus (Knowledge:Neuroscience), Expertise, Power Attack (used to play a lot of baseball)

Well, I think this is pretty accurate. I bench about 350 lbs, am somewhat coordinated (better with eye-hand than whole body), rarely get sick, getting my PhD in neuroscience and got a 33 on the ACT, have more common sense than anybody else I know, and people usually like me, although not in a leadership sort of way.

I used to sword-fight quite a bit (with blunted swords) with my uncle when I was younger, so that might be considered a fighter level. And I suppose the 9+ years I have spent in undergrad and grad school studying arcane subjects (esp Organic Chemistry :D ) would justify two levels of expert.
