What kind of Earth society/culture would you like written up?

India and China.

Oriental adventures and most "oriental" flavorings are most often very Japanese.

Chinese culture si very different. I would love to see a good sourcebook on that.

India for all the reasons said.

And Norse as well. Often done, but not often done well.

And don't get em started on Avalanche books. I am talking about meaty sourcebooks.

We have European flavor all over the place...
Actually, no, we don't. One wonderful aspect of Al-Qadim, for instance, was that it felt like Arabian Nights. Stock D&D does not feel like a European fairy tale. Or an Arthurian tale. Or a medieval folktale. Or a Shakespearean play. I'd love to see a decent Occidental Adventures supplement.

I'd love to see a standard "Western" D&D game that actually felt remotely like any ONE of those.

Well, i hope our current project lives up to your expectations! We're calling it "A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe" :)
We're avoiding dealing with actual historical figures (and that includes the catholic church) and instead are focusing on stuff that can be used as backdrop information for any campaign that is looking for the "Western European historical yet magical" feel.

The tentative release date is spring of 2003. If it does well we'll probably continue with the theme. "A Magical Medieval Society: India" would be the next! :)

Sounds good so far.

So you're aiming for a fairytale feel? Or a typical fantasy novel feel? Without the church, it won't feel much like medieval folklore -- but that might be a good thing; medieval Christianity's pretty creepy...

I hope that one's well illustrated. It's eye-opening to compare primitive, primitive, medieval European art to ancient Indian art, with its splendid temple carvings, etc.

I agree with the previous poster who said that China has actually not been covered adequately. Mythic China, the China in "Crouching Tiger", and many many other Chinese novels from Gu Long or Jin Yong has not been adequately covered.

It is in some ways a heroic setting (heroes can take enormous amounts of damage, and fight from dawn to dusk), and in others a grim 'n gritty setting (poison will still kill you, and there's no sense of magical healing and resurrection).
