A relatively simple question as the title suggests. . .

Given 56 sessions, each lasting approximately 3 hours (sometimes 15 minutes more, very rarely 15 to 30 minutes less), involving 4 players (and no deaths), what level would you expect the party to be in a 5E game?

For the sake of the poll, it does not matter if you use XP, milestone, or some other system. The question is more about pace of advancement than the form of it (though obviously the latter influences the former).

EDIT: Assume the campaign began at level 1.

If you have a more specific response than the ranges provided in the answers, please post and explain. If you think there are other factors to consider aside from session length and number of players, I'd love to hear what you think they are.

I'll explain what inspired the question after we get some responses.

My group tends to play for 1.5 to 2 hours each week. We might skip 4-5 sessions each year, so I'm thinking 100 of my sessions. This is about 13th level, or about time to start a new campaign.

While the rate would be faster at the beginning and slower at the end, I would average 4 or 5 sessions per level. This keeps folks engaged while still allowing them to play with their "new toys" as they level up. So 11th or 12th.

Our current campaign is on pace to have most party members hit 16th level by session 56.

But that hasn’t always been the pace of our longer 5e campaigns - I’d say this one is a bit quicker on the leveling front.

What if 56 sessions likely means I'm into a new campaign (maybe even a third one?)

I don't know. . . I am sure you can find something interesting to contribute regardless.

Like, at what level do you generally end a campaign? How many sessions is that? Are they 3 hour sessions? Etc. .

We'll usually end between 9-13 after 30-40 sessions, but some campaigns have been designed to be smaller. We start at 1st, 3rd or 5th depending on the story.
