The rogue's cunning action allows the rogue to run twice as fast as other creatures of his race. Therefore the best runners also, by definition of being rogues would all speak a secret language (Thieves' Cant).

It also means that a thief who is caught picking a pocket, is almost always likely to get away safely.

Yeah, well, I’m not sure if the chase rules still favor the rogue or not, but still, the rogue certainly gets away from any combat, and loses their pursuers super easily.
