In the introductory part of a campaign setting sourcebook, there's usually some information about the setting that sets up the rest of the book without going into too much detail. How do you prefer this text?

I like campaign settings that are epic, with sweeping histories. For those the one I like best is a third-person account, from an objective historian of that world, chronicling the setting in what is assumed to be the opening page of a massive shelf-warping historical tome.

For the introductory part, I like 3rd person perspective, to get a feel for things. Having to extrapolate basic ideas about the setting from 1st person right from the beginning is a little tedious (and I can't imagine how 2nd person works at all).

However, for flavor text later in the sourcebook, I prefer 1st person, as it allows you to see what it is like to *be* there, which may give some good ideas for roleplaying.
