D&D (2024) What Monster Should Have Made the Cut?

EDIT TO CLARIFY: I am asking about specific monsters you like and/or think should have been included, not categories or (god forbid) discussions about humanoids AGAIN.

Most of the monsters in the 2024 Monster Manual were in the 2014 monster manual (or variations thereof). However, there are lots of monsters from official D&D sources beyond the 2014 MM, from Volos and Mordenkainens to the setting guides and adventures.
So, if it had been up to you, what non-2014 MM monsters should have made the cut for the 2024 MM? Why? If possible, let us know where the monsters came from so those of us who are curious can look them up. If you are so inclined, include what modifications you might have made to get them "in line" with 2024 monsters.

Let's NOT use this thread as yet another place to fight about humanoids statblocks vs NPC statblocks, though. Suggesting a humanoid statblock is fine, just don't use it as an opportunity to fight a fight that is already fought in a half dozen other threads, thanks.

Also, let's not suggest statblocks that are in the 2024 MM that shouldn't have made the cut. i just don't think that is going to make for fun or productive conversation.
Thanks!

I definitely could've seen the merrenoloth from Mordenkainen Presents Monsters of the Multiverse/Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes making the cut, given how the DMG Cosmology section mentions fiendish captains of River Styx boats.

As an aside, I find it interesting that the lacedon ghoul made it from IIRC Tales of the Yawning Portal to the Monster Manual! I didn't know aquatic ghouls had that many fans!

"What monster should have made the cut?"

Simple: orc, with a battleaxe. ;)

(Sorry, couldn't resist... :) )

Otherwise, I'll get back to you when I see a copy of the new MM and know what is missing...
