Now that we've got several thousand official monsters, what monster types do you feel you would still like to get more of? Why?

Just because a monster type hasn't been done to death yet, doesn't mean people want to see more of it - and vice versa. So I figured I'd start a companio poll to the What monster types have been done to death one.

Personally, I would *love* to see more Animals, Feys and Magical Beasts - three categories people apparently feel have *not* yet been done to death. Then again, somehow such products never seem to create as much buzz as yet another dragon book.

So - Which would you like to see more of in future products?

I would like to see more normal animals done. It would help to create a world where there aren't monsters around every corner. With the sheer number of huge carnivores, it's a wonder DnD worlds aren't all like Darksun - barren wastelands.

I like vermin too. Swarms are just way too much fun to scare the crap out of the players with.

To be 100% honest though, I would like to see LOTS more creatures in the CR<1 range and the CR 3-6 range. There's tons of critters at the high ends, but, not so much at the low ends. I think it's because you can't make funky creatures with cool abilities at the low end, so everyone makes critters at the higher ends of the spectrum, cos they're cooler.

Vermin and aberrations. These are the easiest to just throw in somewhere without upsetting the balance of the ecosystem too awfully much. I like my monsters grim and gritty. My last vote on the poll would have to go to "constructs". To me constructs should be unique, singular creatures, not a whole class of monsters.

I voted none. There are still monsters from the first edition monster manual I have not encountered in 25 years of gaming.

I don't think I am in danger of running out any time soon.

Some intersting outliers compared to the other poll so far:

- surprisingly little interest in elementals, giants and monstrous humanoids, even though almost everyone agrees they haven't really been "done to death" yet

- more interest than expected for Undead, despite them being, well... you know... ;)

Combining the two polls, so far Fey are far in the lead if anyone would like to develop a new product. Followed by a somewhat surprising turnout for Aberrations (although some feel they have already been DtD), Animals and Magical Beasts, Vermin, Plants and finally Outsiders (although quite a bit DtD already).
