D&D General What Product Do You Wish They Sold For D&D

VTTs are pretty close. I play with friends hundreds of miles apart on a weekly basis.
Not close enough for me, my friend. They're a damn right better than nothing, but still a far cry from actually being face to face and sharing the same bowl of pretzels and fridge full of beer while we play.

In other words, a book to shift "rulings, not rules" toward "more rules if you want them, and help with making rulings."
And here I was going to go the opposite way -

Player's Handbook, Next Edition

This would be the PHB for how 5th edition was supposed to be: streamlined. No conditions. No weapon tags. No references to Five Feet. No reactions or bonus actions. No attunement or concentration spells. It would be more of a marriage between AD&D and 3rd ed. than 4th ed. and 3rd ed.

That would leave a lot of room for splat books. But jeremy would still have to adjudicate hiding.

This would, IMO, make combat terribly dull with nothing but hit point damage and few tactical choices.

PDFs. I'd like Wizards to sell D&D PDFs of the current edition again. DNDBeyond is nice, I guess. But I don't want a licensee website that stores digital books as webpages. If they lose the license, my books vanish. That's not good. I want to buy PDFs from Wizards that I can keep.

I'd also like Wizards to re-typeset the old main books (like they did with the AD&D core three) and sell those as clean PDFs instead of the okay to crap scans on Drivethru.

And while I'm at it, POD options for the original B/X books. Maybe as a single volume, and no, not the Rules Cyclopedia.

Labor is a lot for something many will pirate unfortunately

I doubt it's any labor at all to release PDFs (I'm near-certain that WotC has digital copies of all their books, to edit before they go to print). The piracy concern however is very real, and likely why we will never get PDFs of 5E books.

That seems kind of shortsighted, if it's the case. I mean, the books are already pirated, to the point of being just a Google search away. They're not exactly foiling anything if that's why they're not making legally-available PDFs of the current edition.

And, of course, the companies that do make legal PDFs of their books, such as Paizo, don't seem to be suffering for it. (Or even for the free online reproductions of their work that are legal, thanks to the OGL.)

I’m curious how much it costs to convert those old books to quality pdf’s. There is a process and i figure someone has to do them from almost scratch.
