What system would you use?

To run games in the style of;


John Gwynne's book Malice
Brian Ruckley's Winterbirth
David Gemmel Sword in the Storm.


I immediately thought of Runequest and Yggdrasill but wondered what popped into others minds.

A few ideas off the top of my head:

• Harnmaster
• Pendragon
• Fate - Legends of Anglerre

Frankly though, any time someone mentions "David Gemmell" and "RPG" in the same sentence, I almost immediately think of Runequest.

One more late entry -- If you're wanting more high action, but gritty, Dragon Age might be a good fit as well.
