A level 4 bard with Cha 14+ knows more level 2 spells than a sorcerer of the same level. same with a bardof any charisma at levels 5-8. Sheesh.

Yes they do. However, the Sorcerer can cast more spells per day, has better spells to choose from and faster spell progression. I'm not sure what point your trying to make, but I think you might be over analyzing things.

Well, broken or no they are NOT the most popular class for players, at least my players. I've only ever had one guy take Bard as a PC class.

That was mean...:(

Hey. Stephano was chaotic neutral. On night he unknowingly camped near a kender village. When he woke up the next morning most of his stuff was either stolen or scattered around...including his Sword of Dragonslaying! (on Krynn ya kinda need one of those).

So he found one of the little thieves rummaging through what was left in his backback and asked him to take him back to the Kender village to get his stuff. Well, of course, the Kender gave me the run around but I got most of my stuff back. Stephano was still angry because he didn't get his sword back.

The town elder said, "Oh you mean this sword!" and he took it out.

"Yes. I would like it back."

Well the town elder gave me the ron around about how he found it fair and square and blah blah blah.

Stephano said "Can I see the sword?"

The elder said, "Okay..." Stephano picked up the sword and stabbed him the throat.

He then proceeded to burn down half the village with a few well placed Fireballs from a scroll and some Flaming Spheres. (this was 2ed) taking out a few score of kender. Then they tried to attack him with their hoopaks. But Stephano's high dexterity and magical leather armor caused most of the blows to bounce off. And most of the warriors were distracted anyway, trying to save thier families from the inferno.

He escaped into the wilderness. A band of them harassed Stephano for a few days after. But they, too, died.

After my bard did all these things, the DM said I was one step closer to become chaotic evil and thus becoming an NPC.

"I was mad," was all I said.

On the one hand, I have to say that wiping out a village because some of the villagers stole your stuff is pretty questionable. On the other hand, I really freakin' hate kender. Nice work.

Those kender had an evil alignment. They believed that their ability to take your stuff made them the owners - ie "might makes right".

So burning down their village was no worse than burning down a village of orcs who thought that driving humans off the land made the land rightfully theirs. Except you could probably argue that the orcs were less evil because the kender weren't really stealing stuff that they needed to live...
