No, I guess my point is - everybody has errata - including wizards. It is a part of the RPing industry - whether you are a little publishign house, or a huge one.

By rectifying, I meant they are takig steps to insure that this does not happen in the future - check the Publishing forum for more info.

But that is the problem. They promised to improve their editing and proofreading performance, but every time a new first printing product come out, errata still appears.

It got to the point where I prefer to wait for the second or third printing.

Then there is the release date. Yeah, as you stated, some people are glad the product came out on time. But wouldn't you be much more happier if they decided to be more meticulous in their editing, even they have to delay the release date? I think for some companies, meeting the deadline is more important than meeting the quality of the product. And it is us, the customers (at least most of you guys), prefer that way: Release Date before Quality.

Not every time. If what you say is true, we should be paying for supplements in the $45 price range, and core rulebooks in the $60 range each. But hey, if you can help the economy and stop the inflation so we can get paid more and spend less, I welcome you to try. AFAIC, the staff don't get paid enough.

Just saying that WotC takes crap for $40 hardcovers of higher quality than Conan. A double standard, don't you agree?

I don't know what you mean by "if you what you say is true", because WotC hasn't to this day done a $60 book, nevertheless they catch a lot more crap for their products.

Depends on how crucial the errors are. That's why I ask if there are any mechanical/rules errors. As for grammatical error, let's face it. They don't get paid enough like those professional mainstream writers.

Oh? And how long have they been in business before 3e? Sorry, I'm not too close to the UK to know it existed before. But they have seem to have landed on the radar thanks to d20/OGL.

I'm not sure how long before 3e, if at all, but at some point they have to advance beyond that stage, nay? I mean, it's been over 3 years since 3e came out, and it's nothing new, so I just wonder.

I've only bought a couple Mongoose books, didn't really like it, but not worth ranting or anything, so I'm not saying they're bad. I just don't think they should get the handwave that they get for being a small company that's trying hard...

Whats with the attitude? I don't know what having a cow means or why you spelled my name wrong, but I just aired my opinion without insulting anyone and thats what people do on these boards.

Mongoose has been operating since 3E at least, have published over a hundred books, so I don't think they're start-up company anymore.

Offficially you are a start up company for the first 3 to 5 years. If your still alive after that time frame, then you are no longer a start up. This is because most companies who survive 5 years survive as long as they want to. Unless market conditions change to where your particular "service" falls in demand, such as an LGS.

Today, I start looking over the internet and what do I see: The Conan rpg has more errors and mistakes than pretty much any book out there. Damn! I spent $50 for this?!?

I gotta tell you though, that I am also dissapointed in the poor job of editing Conan the RPG, but seriously I'd still be happy with it if it had twice the editing blunders!

I think they captured the feel of Conan just beautifully. It does feel like a draft of a game in certain aspects, but given how much d20 I've played and read over the last few years I have no trouble filling in blanks myself.

I will probably even fork over another $50 for the 2nd printing, which doesn't really send the right message to Mongoose, but what can I do... I'm addicted to the stuff!

Anyway, if Mongoose gave me a fixed Conan book for free/replacement, I would be very happy. But I doubt they will do that. (I'd be even happier if they put me on their reviewer's list, but that ain't gonna happen, either)

As for everyone else, we are looking at ways to get the second printing to those who bought the first. Not sure quite how this is going to be done yet, what it will cost (if anything), or what it will entail but rest assured, we will work at least something out for you chaps.

I'll make an announcement about this nearer the time.

Matt, that is great news as far as I am concerned. I ordered the book about three weeks ago and was considering cancelling my order because of all of the complaints. However, hearing that you guys are trying to work out a solution that keeps all first edition customers in mind goes a long way in my book. Well done!
