What to do now?

Well, if I come across a Friday game I'll do my best to let you know, so even if you do quit gaming at least keep posting. So I can "find" you.

PbP games are better than nothing as well. There is a 3.5 Blackmoor that I play in, but I am not sure if Ivid wants more players, we have around 6 as it is. I also know of one PbP for C&C that is just in its first few posts, and another that just posted for starting up in the "on-line C&C" forum on the official C&C message boards.

Plus I regularly see posts wanting to start up PbP's and chats. I even saw one recently that uses video camera's and speakers for their group. Almost like being at the table if you have the stuff to play in it. I don't, so I didn't even try to join. Of couse I now know my digital camera also does video, so if I ever see an opening for that group again I'll jump on the invite.

I would say to give games a rest for a time. It sounds like they were not providing the enjoyment they used to.

I took a break, sortof, for several years with children and career taking precedence. Came back to things with a fresh mind. Over the years not actively running a game I worked on setting and house-rules but mostly filled my time with doing things for and with the family, house repair, building a business, etc. Life the great role playing game. :)

The beauty of taking a break these days is that with the internet, you can always jump back in at any time.

Greetings...

Ahh... so... umm... could you send your gaming stuff to me then?

Or at least just your dice?

Everyone gets busy, it's a fact of life. Sooner or later, your going to find yourself with free time again. Online gaming... Play-by-Post... (in fact I'm starting one if anyone's interested... ) and what everyone else suggested are good ideas.

I have a new daughter, a new job, and never have time to even watch TV. But I'll never leave gaming... because the desire to game has never left me. They will have to pry the dice from my cold dead hands. Better yet... make sure they bury me with them!

Funny!

Actually I plan on selling quite a bit of my stuff on E-Bay. Mostly setting books & boxed sets and games that almost nobody plays anymore. I'll keep a few books to introduce my son to roleplaying when he gets old enough (my old Erol Otus cover basic and expert sets, Castles & Crusades, that kind of thing).

I'd definitely recommend looking into PbP gaming. These days my schedule is so weird and varied that it's probably the only way I'd get any gaming done, but there's a real flexibility in the assumption of most PbP gamers that if you drop off the map for a week unannounced and show up the next day with a nice post at 3am you're still golden. And really, with the right hardware you could probably play on your cell phone during potty breaks at work...Finally a use for that cash you get from pawning your books on Ebay!
