After reading the boards here and elsewhere, I am curious as to the type of DM(GM) you are. I have been with a lot of groups, but still haven't had some of the DMs that people describe. So I was rereading Hong's rant and thought that it really applies to DMs too. Any thoughts on to how the different DMs play into a good (or bad) game?

I chose tactician because I've only GC'ed spycraft, and I love setting up intricate mysteries and puzzles for my players to solve, particularly because the guys I play with aren't neccesarily the greatest modern times role-players (they're hardcore dnd dudes) so when they figure them out it's that much more fun.

I'm a bit of all those options with the exception of Powergamer, but I picked Casual because I typically only run when our longstanding (15+ years) GM wants/needs a break.

Power Gamer/Butt Kicker/Tactician/Storyteller, My game has a lot of combat and puzzle solving, but revolves around a rather deep and complicated story.

I think a problem with this poll is that it's harder to categorize DM than players. If you're a power gamer DM, and you can't find power gamers to play with you, you either aren't going to be a DM or you are going to adjust your style to keep your players with different tastes happy. That's certainly what I try to do. I like it, because it leads to a deeper, more interesting game.
