What type of magic does a "normal" +1 sword radiate?

I'm making a list of magic items for a recent treasure haul, and I just realized that I'm no longer sure what type of magic a normal magic weapon has. Anyone know?

Thanks!

From the SRD:

Magic Items and Detect Magic
When detect magic identifies a magic item’s school of magic, this information refers to the school of the spell placed within the potion, scroll, or wand, or the prerequisite given for the item. The description of each item provides its aura strength and the school it belongs to.

If more than one spell is given as a prerequisite, use the highest-level spell. If no spells are included in the prerequisites, use the following default guidelines.

Code:
[b]Item Nature School [/b]
Armor and protection items Abjuration
Weapons or offensive items Evocation
Bonus to ability score, on skill check, etc. Transmutation

Evocation for weapons, Abjuration for armor

Magic Weapon is Transmutation, so that.

Magic Weapon, the spell, has nothing to do with an Enhancement bonus granted a weapon by the Craft Arms and Armor feat.

Just as Magic Vestment has nothing to do with real magic armor.

Pfft. Neither does any kind of evocation, the only requirement to make a weapon magic is the feat, 500 gps, and 40 XP. Transmutation has a slightly less tenuous hold on reality than evocation.

I'm not disagreeing about what the rule is, I'm saying the rule is silly :)

After traipsing through the Underdark, killing untold numbers of ghouls, kuo-toa, etc., they get a +1 longsword?

Malachite will be thrilled, I'm sure.

Are you kidding? Malachite will snag the Cloak of Superfluous Might. The +1 longsword is probably for Priggle. :D
