This is not an attempt to "confirm bias" (whatever thats means), but to get a handle on how many posting at ENworld favor 1E (simple). This does not mean if you choose one you don't also like the other 2.

Then it should be redone as "Which do you prefer to play, AD&D 1e or D&D 3e?"

Since you don't care if people prefer OD&D, 2e, Basic/RC and the like, why have any of them on the poll - still less just one, and the one that probably gives the least useful data? All it does is clutter your data. For example, for purposes of your poll, the two votes so far for 2e are now useless data. Since 2e is something of a transitional game, it probably tells you next to nothing about whether those people have voted 1e or 3e if the question were phrased with greater clarity.

Confirmation Bias: A tendency to search for or interpret information in a way that confirms one's preconceptions, leading to statistical errors.

. . .but to get a handle on how many posting at ENworld favor 1E (simple).

Which somewhat confirms my point. The poll was (originally, anyhow) heavily biased in favor of AD&D1e, because you lumped other games that were published prior to AD&D2e under that same heading (i.e., AD&D1e).

[Edit: To clarify, the poll is not biased now, though the inclusion of options that don't matter (according to your stated purpose) will still produce unreliable results.]

The rules simply do not matter. Give me a good group of players who are enthusiastic about any game and you're almost guaranteed a good game.

Or, to put it another way: None of the above. Without good players none of the above are any fun, and I have yet to open a game book (or box) and find these supplied within...
