You could just do everything with a headbutt. The worst that'll happen is you'll get whiplash.
If somebody loves critical fumble rules, they will extend the tables to cover anything anybody can use.
Therefore, the only way to be safe is to never make a dice roll.

Spiked armor?
A giant ball of spiked metal. And the character is controlling it by running on its inside. And he is held on a gimbal that keeps him upright. The most he could do is sprain an ankle or suffocate.
