Personally, I don't want anything new (genres of games) I like D&D and, along with computer games, occasional board games and card games (not collectable card games, I don't think I'll ever try those), that's enough for me. I just want more development of the D&D game.
Anyway, I think the next big thing will likley be somehting brought about by increases in AI capability. But who knows?

It was clearly established in an episode of "What's New" published a couple of years ago that the next big thing will be laser dice. Phil went forward in time five years to find out what would happen to Magic:The Gathering and found this out.
