What world would you like to play in?

As far as Fantasy settings go, I'd love to see official English sourcebooks (with plenty of sweet artwork) on the following settings:

-Record of Lodoss War
-Final Fantasy Tactics
-Berserk
-Shadowskill (even though the anime sucked after the first movie/episode)

Other non-fantasy settings I would love to have rpg sourcebooks for are:

-Resident Evil
-Gundam
-Space Cruiser Yamato
-Warhammer 40,000
-GI Joe
-Transformers

Although, I admit most of the above can easily be made into some sort of system (with not that much work really if you knew the material well) using d20, Mekton, GURPS, or whatever. But it would be nice to not have to do the work and it was just on the shelf all ready to buy and everything.

Way back in highschool actually, my first attempt of making my own system was for my gaming group at the time. I was trying to make and run a GI Joe game.

And yes, there's a Warhammer Fantasy RPG, but there isn't a 40k one. Although, "Inquisitor" kinda is a hybrid rpg/miniature skirmish game. That is probably the easiest to convert to an RPG system the fastest (on your own) considering all the available material, stats, background fluff, and so on that already exists.

A part of me still would love to GM a Warhammer 40k game some day for my friends.

- The Malazan Book of the Fallen (Steven Erikson)

- Lord of Light (R. Zelazny)

- Runelords (David Farland)

- Hiero's Journey (Sterling Lanier)

- Skies of Arcadia (DC/NGC videogame)

Starcraft.

I actually bought the Alternity books because I thought it would make a great sci-fi campaign... and then I never played Alternity.

From the top of my head, some "settings" I wouldn't mind trying to play in:

Piers Anthony:
Out of Phase Series
Xanth Series

d20 World of Darkness
d20 Robotech
d20 Warhammer 40k
d20 Warhammer

Games:
Final Fantasy Series
Ninja Gaiden Series
Gauntlet Series
Legend of Zelda Series

Anime:
Demon City Shinjuku
Ranma 1/2
Scryed
Berserk
Flame of Recca
Kenshin

I second the vote for Lodoss, just for the elves (dark and light ;) )

From a graphic novel, Chroniques de la lune noire. They were supposed to base a MMRPG on it but I guess it got canned.

AR

The world in The Dark Moon Chronicles ("Les Chroniques de la Lune Noire") is not that different from D&D. In fact, the characters look like old munchkins from Unearthed Arcana (the old) D&D.

You got a samurai, a half-ogre, and an anti-paladin (with Wisdom below 7), among the heroes.

The biggest difference with a D&D world is the baby factories. The slightest skirmish involves thousands on men on both side, and mere human biological reproduction is not enough to compensate the death toll. I mean, if there aren't baby factories somewhere, the wars of the dark moon would have stopped long ago, not enough survivors to continue the conflict.

The world of the old computer game "The Bard's Tale." No special reason. It's really very generic as fantasy settings go. Just way nostalgic. :)

Prydain.

The world of Simon Green's "Hawk and Fisher" and "Blue Moon" novels.

I'll second Firefly.

Al-Qadim. Yes, it's already a D&D setting. I've still never gotten to play in it, though. :(

(Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind working on most of those, either...)
That's funny, Mouseferatu, I was thinking of Bards Tale as well. You're right about it being very generic, but there is somewhat of a nastalgia factor for me as well.

The other one I was thinking of is Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I always liked the idea of the "Gunslinger" being a combination of mideval knight and Wild West gunslinger.
