What WotC licenses remain?

Probably not -- according to the rumor mill, XXVc wasn't exactly a commercial success, and there probably won't be another Buck Rogers RPG license unless/until another member of the Dille family is running an RPG publisher.

I will grant that the XXVc RPG roundly sucked, with the Richard Scary reminiscent artwork, and the "Ages 10 and up" (Translation: Ages 10-12) approach, but the board game rocked. Hey, the planets actually moved from turn to turn!

I had some fun with XXVc back in the day. But then it sputtered and died.

I was turned off when 3e Oriental Adventures moved away from Kara Tur. I wonder if they will be bringing that setting back in the next iteration of Oriental Adventures (if there is one).

You're probably right, but it was a great game for my former group back in the 90's. It was old-school serial sci-fi, not that Gil Gerard version with Twiki.

That's up to Hasbro, not WotC. Though there are fans that want the electronic license to be pulled from Atari/Vivendi/Infogrames.

I would probably have counted among them just a little while back, but NWN 2 was a good game, so I think Atari/Vivendi/Infrogames is capable of allowing developers to make good D&D games after all.

Rhino, who owns Rhino Records (folks who compiled songs by genre or years, like doo-wop and 80's rocks).

It's not exactly a videogame by way of playing on computer or console and not on DVD players. It's an interactive DVD game.

Personally, we could use more of these "Choose-Your-Own" Adventures (though with better computer graphics or stick with computer-assisted cell animation, like the old Dragon's Lair format).
thanks.

yeah, they handed out oodles of the free demo version at Gen Con 03. and you could download screen savers and whatnot to for it.

i bought the full version and played it a couple dozen times.

speaking of other things... the D&D movie and the second one that went straight to DVD. are they owned solely by WotC/Hasbro?

I think everybody is forgetting the electronic entertainment licenses, such as for CRPGs. It will be interesting to see whether these are renewed.

I think they will be renewed no matter what to the one company that has the money for it and that can build up enough trust with WotC that they will produce quality products. I cannot see that WotC would remove those licenses and start to produce their own computer games (which is what they would have to do if they take the license back home). They do not have the industry power, staff and knowledge to do something like that. It's a totally different game . And so far I think its a wonderful way for WotC to make money. All they have to do is to give out the license and have a "good look" at the product that it meets their IP requirements.

What about blackmoor?

Didn't WOTC come out with the Frog Temple a few months agoand there was a small uproar about who owned the rights to that, because zeitgeist came out with a similiar module for the blackmoor living campaign.

BTW, wouldn't this be a cool adventure hook. The big nation, The Wotsee, that granted all of its cities free-state status is now taking back that status, getting ready for an event only known as "the fourth edition. No one knows if its good or bad, only that it will change the world.

AFAIK, film right is currently owned(?) by Courtney Solomon. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm down with that; I'd love to see OA brought fully up to 3.5 speed. (The Dragon update was good, but I want Kara-Tur back.)
